There is multiplayer on offer here, but they took out Play the Deer mode which was awesome! It was by far my favorite multiplayer mode in the previous game and I have no idea why they would have taken it away from this game. Seeing who is the best hunter with your buddies is fun, but it is such a strange decision to take out a mode that was so popular.

Overall, Deer Hunter is a decent enough entry in the series. It just felt like they were running out of ideas with this one or that they just wanted to get a new game out on the shelves as quickly as they could.

Another excellent part of the presentation is a slow motion camera that follows your bullet after a perfect shot to take down a deer. The sounds play their part as well. The animal calls are realistic in their noises, and you can tell when you’ve messed up a call. You’ll hear the sounds of bows and gunshots you fire. You can even hear the sounds of your own footsteps as you hunt.

You can choose any of these locations to get a variety in the scenery, and also choose the character that you feel has the best combination of strengths that are available in the game. You can also pick out hunting gear like lures, stands, navigation aids, and also a suitable mode of transportation. The artificial intelligence of Deer Hunter is very well created and that is what makes playing the game such a realistic experience. The reactions that you get from the animals is very realistic and there is nothing unfair or over the top about it.

You have three main game modes that you can sink your teeth into. If you just want to jump straight in and have fun hunting then the Daily Hunt mode is for you. Deer Hunter also introduced a tournament mode that you can play with bots. This is what you would expect where you are competing against the AI for who can get the most and best kills in a given time frame.

The other mode is Hunting Season where you actually get to manage a deer herd where you take care of them, plant the crops, and thin out the ones that are not good enough for you. It is a pretty cool idea and a mode later games would improve upon.
